Softball Recap: Gunn Has No Trouble Against Castilleja

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Notre Dame, Gunn was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Castilleja Gators with a sharp 12-2 victory. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Violet Hayes made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Makena Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February of 2024. Allison Novick was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Gunn was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Gunn's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Castilleja, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gunn will head out to square off against Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Castilleja, they will face off against Menlo-Atherton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
