5A District 2 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Wakulla extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 2 this week by beating Rickards, 35-7. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
J.T. Bradwell and Khalid Thomas gave Godby a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Bradwell threw for 65 yards and one touchdown, while Thomas ran for 73 yards. Teammate Jaylin Heyward added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
Tra'von Holmes was the best wideout in the league this week as the Raiders lost to Wakulla. Holmes tallied six receptions for 40 yards. Jalen Ashby helped Rickards' passing attack out by catching four balls for 29 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Bradwell of the Cougars is the league leader in passing yards this season with 942. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, Scott Klees' team's Demetrius Lindsey has rushed for 364 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Jordan Franks. The Wakulla star has 15 catches for 338 yards.
Rickards made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,514 from 1,665. The improvement came about via a 35-7 victory over Quintin Lewis' team last week.
