6A District 1 recap October 22, 2013
Bartlesville was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in 6A District 1. Earlier in the week, the Bruins defeated Stillwater 31-6.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Union beat Page 63-6. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Union's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. MASON FARQUHAR threw for 268 and 4 touchdowns and Jeffery Mead had 150 yards receiving. On the ground TYLER ADKINS contributed 60 yards. KAYLOR PEARSON helped Union's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 68 yards.
Spencer Parsons made the biggest impact on defense this week as the Pioneers lost to Bartlesville. The 5-foot-9 senior pulled down 1 interception.
He was 15-22 with 0 interceptions.
Mead was the best wideout in the league this week as Kirk Fridrich's team topped the Sandites. Mead tallied 6 receptions for 150 yards. PEARSON helped Union's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 68 yards.
Union's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Redskins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. FARQUHAR has thrown for 1,242 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Mead has 38 catches for 707 yards.
The Redskins are in second place, while the Bruins are in third place.
Union took down Page 63-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. FARQUHAR ran for 48 yards during the win.
