Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights walked away with it. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday. The win was familiar territory for Fort Wayne Bishop Luers who now have six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fort Wayne Bishop Luers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addie Shank, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Shank has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Miley Wareing was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and six assists.
Whitko lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jayma Stonebraker, who scored 16 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gwen Howard, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Whitko, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-4.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers and Lafayette Central Catholic will face off at 4:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Lafayette Central Catholic will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Fort Wayne Bishop Luers surely won't give up without a fight.
