The Strom Thurmond Rebels will be playing in front of their home fans against the Silver Bluff Bulldogs at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Strom Thurmond has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 432 points over their last seven games.
Last Tuesday, Strom Thurmond strolled past Pelion with points to spare, taking the game 61-45. Given Strom Thurmond's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while Pelion is ranked 277th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Strom Thurmond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darrian Hendrix out in front who scored 14 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Hendrix has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Roosevelt Walker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Silver Bluff came up short against McCormick on Wednesday and fell 51-42.
Strom Thurmond's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Silver Bluff, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.
Strom Thurmond beat Silver Bluff 52-41 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Strom Thurmond have another victory up their sleeve, or will Silver Bluff turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
