The Faith Christian Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 73-65 victory over West Central. The victory was just what Faith Christian needed coming off of a 67-32 loss in their prior match.
Maya Layton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 4-for-10 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 46 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Gracyn Musick was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Annika Smith and Mara Sharpe certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Smith scored 22 points along with five assists, while Sharpe scored 18 points along with six assists and two steals. Sharpe hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailee Bishop, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
Even though they lost, West Central were working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Faith Christian's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10. As for West Central, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Faith Christian will face off against South Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Newton is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for West Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Calumet Christian at 6:15 p.m. on Monday.
