Baseball Game Preview: Kenton Ridge Cougars vs. Indian Lake Lakers

Kenton Ridge has gone 6-1 against Indian Lake recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will head out to face off against the Lakers at 5:15 p.m. Kenton Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Kenton Ridge barely beat Urbana the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars didn't even let the Hillclimbers on the board on Monday, marking the Cougars' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Zach Deel made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kenton Ridge is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-2 otherwise. Deel was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kenton Ridge let Brennan Shaffer and Aiden Yeatts run wild. Shaffer scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Yeatts went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jake Beard, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, while Indian Lake put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Shawnee. The Lakers walked away with a 5-0 victory over the Braves.

The team relied heavily on Colten Corcoran, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Kolton Cummins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Indian Lake now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Kenton Ridge, their record is now 4-2.

Kenton Ridge beat Indian Lake 5-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
