El Capitan is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Turlock is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Gauchos will host the Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (El Capitan 2.6, Turlock 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
El Capitan is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Kimball just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 12-11. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Gauchos, who until this match were averaging 2.55 runs allowed.
Angel Rivera was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Saucedo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs.
Meanwhile, Turlock got themselves on the board against Pitman on Thursday, but Pitman never followed suit. They walked away with a 4-0 victory over the Pride. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Pride recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Joshua Ramirez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Turlock got a great performance from Dutch Lawrence as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Lawrence has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Jaron Rocha was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.
Turlock's victory bumped their record up to 13-5-1. As for El Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
