Manchester is 8-2 against Huguenot since February of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Manchester Lancers on the road again and play against the Huguenot Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Hopefully Manchester is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Huguenot in Virginia (Manchester is ranked second, while Huguenot is ranked 270th).
Manchester stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Thursday. They blew past Clover Hill, posting a 64-7 victory on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Manchester has posted since December 5, 2023.
Manchester can attribute much of their success to Rayne Wright, who scored 13 points along with two steals, and Mia Woolfolk, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Wright has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Smith, who scored six points along with four steals and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Huguenot's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their sixth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Cosby, falling 61-21. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Huguenot has suffered against Cosby since January 7, 2020.
Manchester's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points per game. As for Huguenot, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
Everything came up roses for Manchester against Huguenot in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 108-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Manchester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
