The Screven County Gamecocks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 76-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Southeast Bulloch. Even though they lost, Screven County's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.4 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Demarko Ward and Deon Dixon certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Ward scored 23 points, while Dixon scored 18 points. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Lavez Roper, who scored seven points.
Screven County's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-6. As for Southeast Bulloch, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Screven County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bryan County at 7:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Southeast Bulloch, they will head out on the road to face off against Bulloch Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
