After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Iowa City West, the Liberty Lightning were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They snuck past Western Dubuque with a 56-51 win. That's another feather in the cap for Liberty, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Liberty was led to victory by Gage Kampman and Maddoc Coapstick. Kampman scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, while Coapstick scored 18 points. Kampman set a new season high mark in steals with two. Another player making a difference was Trey Hughes, who scored eight points.
The win got Liberty back to even at 2-2. As for Western Dubuque, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Liberty's road trip will continue as they head out to face Iowa City at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. As for Western Dubuque, they will challenge Dubuque Senior at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Dubuque Senior is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
