Patapsco is 0-6 against Pikesville since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Patapsco Patriots will be playing at home against the Pikesville Panthers at 5:30 p.m. The timing isn't great for Patapsco: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Pikesville has snatched up 14 consecutive wins on the road.
Patapsco suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They were outmatched by New Town on the road and fell 58-24. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Patapsco in their matchups with New Town: they've now lost seven in a row.
Patapsco's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Aaliyah Sanders, who scored six points along with two steals, and Kayla Gross who scored nine points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Gross has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
In what's become a running theme this season, Pikesville gave their fans yet another huge win on Wednesday. They breezed by Eastern Tech at home to the tune of 72-17. Given Pikesville's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while Eastern Tech is ranked 176th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pikesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Jones-Bey, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Bree Taylor, who scored 16 points along with three steals.
Patapsco's defeat dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Pikesville, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.
Patapsco was taken down by Pikesville 61-25 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Patapsco was down 38-10.
