The Medina Valley Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the United Longhorns at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Medina Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Medina Valley barely beat Alexander the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Medina Valley blew past Alexander 8-2 on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.
Lyssy Salazar looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Claire Boehme and Kamyluh Dow did most of the damage at the plate: Boehme scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Dow scored three runs and stole Three bases. The dominant performance gave Dow a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Arielle Chichester, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, United had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Del Rio by a score of 6-2 on Friday.
Tatiana Mejia was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Mejia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was her first of the season.
Mejia wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Delani Perez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Regina Rodriguez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Medina Valley's record is now 8-6. As for United, their record now sits at 7-12-1.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Medina Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've averaged .326. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Medina Valley was able to grind out a solid win over United in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, winning 8-4. Does Medina Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will United turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
