The Mulberry Grove Aces will head out on the road to take on the Maryville Christian Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mulberry Grove is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 19-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Monday, Mulberry Grove came up short against First Baptist Academy and fell 60-48.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jackson Icenogle, who scored 15 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Scoggins, who scored 12 points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Maryville Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. The contest between them and Christ Our Rock Lutheran wasn't particularly close, with Maryville Christian falling 47-32. While losing is never fun, Maryville Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 706th, while Christ Our Rock Lutheran is ranked 338th).
Logan Schwenk put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played.

This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mulberry Grove have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Maryville Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.6 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mulberry Grove took a serious blow against Maryville Christian in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 54-25. Can Mulberry Grove avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
