Fort Davis has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Van Horn Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Fort Davis nor the Eagles posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
Last Tuesday, Fort Davis took a serious blow against the Shorthorns, falling 64-10.
Meanwhile, Van Horn unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Marfa on the road by a decisive 38-23 margin. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Van Horn has scored all season.
Van Horn's loss came about despite a quality game from Gio Corralez, who scored 19 points. That was a full 82.6% of Van Horn's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Fort Davis dropped their record down to 0-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Van Horn, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-9.
Fort Davis was dealt a bruising 66-13 defeat at the hands of the Eagles when the teams last played back in January. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Fort Davis was down 37-4.
