Eaton is a perfect 3-0 against Elizabeth since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Reds will head out to challenge the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. Eaton will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Eaton is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They skirted past Strasburg 35-32. Eaton's victory was all the more impressive since the Indians were averaging only 13.45 points allowed on the season.
Jackson Savona was his usual excellent self, rushing for 75 yards and two scores. Brayden Legler was in the mix as well, providing Eaton with two touchdowns.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Eaton proved: they limited Strasburg to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Cameron Southard for the heroic effort on defense: he. Eaton hasn't allowed more than 5.1 yards per carry in three consecutive games.
Eaton's defensive line didn't let Brody Hopwood, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In that department, Andrew Loyd was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 38-35 win over the Beetdiggers.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Tristan McCray and Ritchie Bruno. McCray had a great game and rushed for 118 yards and one TD. Meanwhile, Bruno was balling out in the loss, rushing for 155 yards and a pair of scores.
Elizabeth didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ronin Lundgren, Tim Waters, and Talyn Douglas picked up one apiece. Douglas is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played.
Elizabeth's victory bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Eaton, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Saturday's matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Savona and McCray. Savona just won't slow down this season and has run in 14 touchdowns while averaging 129.9 rushing yards per game. McCray has been a dominant force too and has run in 18 touchdowns while averaging 77 rushing yards per game.
Eaton beat Elizabeth 21-13 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Do the Reds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
