The Beebe Badgers came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. It was close, but they capped 2023 with a 43-40 win over Lakeside. For Beebe, this counts as revenge for the 45-19 defeat Lakeside walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Despite the loss, Lakeside saw an underclassman step up: Mckenzie Williams scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Williams scored a full 32.5% of Lakeside's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zakoria Wilson, who scored nine points.
Beebe's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Lakeside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-6.
Beebe's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Little Rock Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Little Rock Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Beebe likes a good challenge. Lakeside will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Pine Bluff at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Pine Bluff has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 7.
