Jordan is 0-6 against Murray since March of 2024 but things could change on Thursday. The Beetdiggers will host the Spartans at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Jordan took a 17-run defeat the last time they faced off against East, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Beetdiggers won by a run and slipped past the Leopards 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Beetdiggers have posted since March 9th.
Kimani Archibeque made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. Archibeque was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cambria Culberson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murray). Everything went their way against Judge Memorial Catholic on Tuesday as they made off with a 20-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.
Murray got a massive performance out of Summer Stewart, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Maddie Bigelow, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Murray always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .724. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Murray's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Jordan, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Jordan has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Murray struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Jordan might still be hurting after the 21-6 loss they got from Murray when the teams last played back in March of 2025. Can the Beetdiggers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
