Basketball Recap: Southwestern Extends Winning Streak to Four

Southwestern lost to North Decatur back in February of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Southwestern Spartans secured a 57-51 W over the North Decatur Chargers. The victory was nothing new for the Spartans as they're now sitting on four straight.

Despite the defeat, North Decatur saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Owen Rennekamp went 7-for-16 en route to 15 points and five assists. Owen Eldridge was another key player, putting up nine points and seven boards.

Southwestern's win bumped their record up to 9-11. As for North Decatur, they now have a losing record of 11-12.

Looking ahead, Southwestern will head out to challenge MTI School of Knowledge at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Southwestern's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests. As for North Decatur, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rushville at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
