Shelton has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Xavier Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Xavier took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Shelton, who comes in off a win.
Last Friday, Shelton strolled past Hamden with points to spare, taking the game 42-28. Given Shelton's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Hamden is ranked 42nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Michael Kinik and David Dojlidko were among the main playmakers for Shelton as the former threw for 241 yards and four touchdowns on only 19 passes and the latter gained 233 total yards and three touchdowns. Dojlidko was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 69 yards.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Xavier's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell 30-17 to Fairfield Prep. Xavier has not had much luck with Fairfield Prep recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Shelton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Xavier, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-2.
Shelton took their win against Xavier when the teams last played back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 33-13. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shelton since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
