The Dixon Dukes & Duchesses will venture away from home to face off against the DeKalb Barbs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Dixon needed a bit of extra time to put away Winnebago. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Indians. The victory continues a trend for the Dukes & Duchesses in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won three in a row.

Allie Abell made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Delaney Bruce and Bailey Tegeler did most of the damage at the plate: Bruce got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs, while Tegeler went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI Tegeler has posted since back in May of 2024. Breanna Tegeler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Dixon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, DeKalb made sure to put some runs up on the board against Metea Valley on Wednesday. The Barbs came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 17-14. Considering the Barbs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Isabel Aranda was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run and four runs. Another player making a difference was Hazel Montavon, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
DeKalb's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-14. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Dixon, their record is now 9-10.
Everything went Dixon's way against DeKalb in their previous matchup back in May of 2022, as Dixon made off with an 11-1 win. Do the Dukes & Duchesses have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Barbs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
