After flying high against the Van Wert Cougars last Friday, the Shawnee Indians came back down to earth. Shawnee received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 55-41 to Ottawa-Glandorf. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Shawnee has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, Shawnee saw an underclassman step up: Beckett Bertke scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 51.2% of Shawnee's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tate Bender was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals.
Shawnee's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Ottawa-Glandorf, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Shawnee will be playing at home against Kenton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Shawnee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Friday. As for Ottawa-Glandorf, they will head out on the road to square off against Defiance at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Ottawa-Glandorf's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games.
