Scranton has gone a perfect 10-0 against County Line recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Scranton Rockets are taking a road trip to challenge the County Line Indians at 4:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Scranton made easy work of Sacred Heart and carried off a 15-1 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rockets.
DeLaney Mainer (2026) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Mainer (2026) was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, Mackenzie Croft (2028) was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. Marrissa Layes (2026) was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Scranton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask County Line). They never let Mulberry get on the board and left with a 26-0 victory on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 6, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Like Scranton, County Line also got a great game from a two-way player: Virginia Besier. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Besier has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tavilynn Fortenberry, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Joshi Brown, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
County Line's record now sits at 3-1. As for Scranton, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Scranton came out on top in a nail-biter against County Line in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for Scranton since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
