The Cheyenne Mountain Red-Tailed Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Thomas Jefferson Spartans at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The last three games Cheyenne Mountain has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Cheyenne Mountain is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Air Academy, who was ranked fourth at the time (Cheyenne Mountain was ranked third). The Red-Tailed Hawks skirted past the Kadets 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Red-Tailed Hawks have posted against the Kadets since April 16, 2022.

Charlie Scofield made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nate Glad, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3. Jansen Roberts was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Thomas Jefferson, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Rangeview 14-4 on Friday. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Spartans this season.
Thomas Jefferson got a massive performance out of Shepard Schneider, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Schneider a new career-high. Ryder Perry also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Thomas Jefferson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rangeview only managed seven hits.
Thomas Jefferson's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8. As for Cheyenne Mountain, they pushed their record up to 6-1-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Thomas Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cheyenne Mountain has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. It's a different story for Thomas Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .358. Will they be able to contain Cheyenne Mountain's hitters?
Cheyenne Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Thomas Jefferson in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red-Tailed Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
