Baseball Recap: Delta Has No Trouble Against Montrose

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Delta and Montrose, and Delta kept the tradition alive. Delta put the hurt on Montrose with a sharp 10-0 win on Friday. Considering the Panthers have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Landon Kennell made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Kennell wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ty Reed, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another was Jhett Ryan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Delta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Montrose only posted an OBP of .211.

Delta now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Montrose, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Delta will take on Peak to Peak at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Montrose, they will face off against Fruita Monument at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
