Martinsville is on a four-game streak of home wins, while East Central is on a 16-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Martinsville Artesians will take on the East Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Martinsville strolled past Silver Creek with points to spare, taking the game 28-14.
Brayden Shrake was his usual excellent self, rushing for 243 yards and four touchdowns. Shrake hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for eight straight games.
Meanwhile, East Central can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Shelbyville 62-7 at home. Given East Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Shelbyville is ranked 127th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Josh Ringer, who rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Ringer hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for ten straight games. Cole Burton was another key contributor, throwing for 129 yards and four touchdowns on only nine passes.
Martinsville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for East Central, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.
Martinsville was taken down by East Central 47-0 when the teams last played back in November of 2022. Will Martinsville have more luck at home instead of on the road?
