The Balko Bison lost to the Laverne Tigers back in January of 2023, but the Balko Bison didn't allow the Laverne Tigers the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Balko sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 win over Laverne. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Balko.
Balko's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Estrella Martinez, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Martinez continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Emelie Trentham, who scored ten points along with five assists.
Balko's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. As for Laverne, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Balko's road trip will continue as they head out to face Fargo/Gage/Fort Supply at 10:00 a.m. on January 4th. As for Laverne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forgan at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday. Forgan is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
