DC International is 7-0 against the EAGLES since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The DC International Dragons just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Capital City Public Charter School EAGLES at 5:00 p.m. on February 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in District of Columbia (DC International is ranked 25th, while the EAGLES are ranked 30th).
While it was all tied up 23-23 at halftime, DC International was not quite the Bulldogs' equal in the second half on Monday. DC International fell 64-51 to the Bulldogs. DC International has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, DC International got a solid performance out of Damani Gross, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gross has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Mason, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Capital City Public Charter School narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Griffins 56-54.
Capital City Public Charter School's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but David Whittington led the charge by scoring 18 points along with six steals and five assists. Whittington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kelvin Davis, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six assists.
DC International has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. As for Capital City Public Charter School, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
DC International strolled past the EAGLES when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 49-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for DC International since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
