The North Edgecombe Warriors suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Monday. They took a serious blow against Northampton County, falling 67-36. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss North Edgecombe has suffered against Northampton County since January 25, 2019.
North Edgecombe lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Le'Lah Jenkins, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was ChyAsia Garrett, who scored five points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
North Edgecombe struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Northampton County racked up 14 assists.
Michaela Hodge continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Northampton County, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 17 rebounds. Hodge is absolutely dominating the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlice Tyner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds.
North Edgecombe's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Northampton County, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-2.
North Edgecombe won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against KIPP P at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. KIPP P is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Northampton County, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Weldon at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Weldon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
