St. Augustine Prep (Richland, N.J.) saw its 14-point lead dwindle to eight, but still managed to hang on and beat
Buena (N.J.) 20-12 on Saturday.
The Hermits were up 14-6 at the half after taking the lead on a
Alex Hughes touchdown pass to
Andrew Nelson in the first quarter.
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at eight entering the fourth.
With the win St. Augustine Prep extended its winning streak to six games. SAP defeated the Bulldogs 40-6 last week.
The Richland school's standout player in the win was
Calvin Cass. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 25 touchdowns on the season.
Lov?uan Scott played well for the Chiefs. The junior running back ran for two touchdowns.
The Hermits went into the matchup giving up only 6.8 points per game.
St. Augustine Prep also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 35-7.
In a Cape-Atlantic - National game next week Buena (3-4) takes on Pleasantville, and St. Augustine Prep (6-0) will go up against St. Joseph in a non-conference game.
