Softball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Ayden - Grifton barely beat Fike the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Chargers never let the Demons get on the board and left with a 17-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Chargers have won six games by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Aaliyah Williams was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Raelyn Jones, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3.

Ayden - Grifton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fike only posted a batting average of .091.

Ayden - Grifton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fike, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That lines up perfectly with their 4-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will take on SouthWest Edgecombe at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Chargers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Fike, they will face off against West Johnston at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
