The Hodgeman County Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Trego Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hodgeman County gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Deerfield 60-14 at home. With Hodgeman County ahead 40-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Hodgeman County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mallorie Ruff, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Casey Schaffer, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Trego's and Dighton's contest on Friday was close at halftime, but Trego turned on the heat in the second half with 32 points. Trego blew past Dighton 58-37. Winning is a bit easier when your three-point shooting is a whole 20% better than the opposition, as Trego's was.
Among those leading the charge was Reece Smith, who scored 28 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Tegan Lang, who scored 11 points.
Hodgeman County's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Trego, their win bumped their record up to an identical 1-0.
Hodgeman County didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Trego in their previous matchup back in December of 2021, but they still walked away with a 41-37 victory.
