The Portage Mustangs fell victim to the Penns Manor Comets''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were the victim of a rough 22-0 loss at the hands of the Comets. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Portage in their matchups with Penns Manor: they've now lost three in a row.
Easton Slanoc threw for 87 yards on five of 19 attempts. Gavin Bobolsky was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards and no touchdowns. On the ground, Issac Willinsky rushed for 29 yards.
Penns Manor can attribute much of their success to Amin Lieb, who rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
Portage's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-6. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.5 points per game. As for Penns Manor, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-5.
Portage will take on River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Penns Manor, they will head out on the road to face off against Purchase Line at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Purchase Line is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
