The National Trail Blazers came into Saturday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 49-47 win over Northeastern on Saturday. The victory was just what National Trail needed coming off of a 64-35 loss in their prior match.
Despite the loss, Northeastern still got an impressive performance from Will Sudhoff, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sudhoff has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Smith, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
National Trail's win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Northeastern, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.
National Trail and the Tigers will face off at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Ohio (Ansonia is ranked 715th, while the Blazers are ranked 729th). As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to face off against the Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mechanicsburg is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
