Palm Harbor University moved up to 106 from 169 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 8A District 7. The Hurricanes climbed the ranks as a result of besting Tarpon Springs 49-21.
Palm Harbor University took down the Spongers 49-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jonah Fiskaa ran for 193 yards in the win.
East Lake's dynamic duo of Pete Dinovo and Artavis Scott proved tough for Sarasota to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Dinovo threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns and Scott had 172 yards receiving. Chris Depaolo helped East Lake's passing attack out by catching five balls for 40 yards.
The Eagles' Dinovo and George Campbell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Dinovo has thrown for 1371 yards this season, while Campbell, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 18 catches for 446 yards. Matt Lepain's team's Fiskaa leads the league in rushing yards with 575.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Hurricanes take on North Port. As it stands, Palm Harbor University is in first, while the Bobcats are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Hurricanes take on North Port. Palm Harbor University has allowed 86 points this season, while Matt Pryer's team has given up 142. The Hurricanes allowed 21 points last week as they bested Tarpon Springs.
Palm Harbor University made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,434 from 2,668. The advance stemmed from a 49-21 victory over Ron Hawn's team last week.
