A feisty cat fight will be fought as Seneca Bobcats face off against Daniel Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Seneca is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Seneca took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Walhalla. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Razorbacks: they've now won seven in a row.
Tyler Vassey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Vassey was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other pitching news, Alex Bene looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, William Cutshall was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. Coltyn Hawk was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Seneca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Walhalla only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Daniel faced Fountain Inn in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. Daniel came up short against Fountain Inn, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Lions have suffered since April 12, 2024.
Ty Simpson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
Daniel's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Seneca, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Seneca took their victory against Daniel in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2. Does Seneca have another victory up their sleeve, or will Daniel turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
