Softball Recap: Lockwood Extends Winning Streak to Two

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Monday. Lockwood never let Exeter get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. Considering Lockwood has won nine matches by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Asa Lasater was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Mekenzie Weimer also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Lockwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Lockwood and bumps their season record up to 18-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Exeter, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-12.

Looking ahead, Lockwood will head out on the road to face off against Golden City at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Exeter, they will host Lamar at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Exeter's pitchers better be ready for this one: Lamar has averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season.
