Bellevue West is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They came out on top against Bellevue East by a score of 61-49.
Bellevue West's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Yirah Sears, who posted 15 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Stevie Harley, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.
Bellevue West was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bellevue East only five assists.
Meanwhile, Omaha Westside faced Millard North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. Omaha Westside skirted past Millard North 42-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since January 31st.
Omaha Westside's win came from a few key players Bellevue West will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kimora Jenkins, who earned 12 points. What's more, she also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Himayajo Metoyer, who put up 11 points and five rebounds.
Bellevue West's record is now 18-8. As for Omaha Westside, their record now sits at 20-6.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bellevue West has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 23.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Omaha Westside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
