The Unity Reed Lions lost against the Westfield Bulldogs back in February of 2018, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Unity Reed ended up on the wrong side of a rough 71-47 walloping at the hands of Westfield. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Unity Reed in their matchups with Westfield: they've now lost four in a row.
Charles Pargo and Zayden NIchols certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Pargo scored 24 points, while NIchols scored ten points. The game was Pargo's tenth in a row with at least ten points.
Westfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mathias Lee, who scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. Braden Norris was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Unity Reed's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Westfield, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Unity Reed's road trip will continue as they head out to face Independence at 3:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Westfield, they will play host again and welcome John Champe, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Virginia (John Champe is ranked 108th, while Westfield is ranked 119th).
