Carnegie hasn't had much luck against Hinton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Carnegie Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Hinton Comets at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Hinton will be up against a hot Carnegie team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Carnegie put the hurt on Geary with a sharp 12-1 victory on Friday. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Chizm Kuykendall made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Carnegie got a massive performance out of Stetson West, who scored two runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. The dominant performance gave West a new career-high in stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Kizer Schneberger, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Carnegie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .605 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Hinton had to endure an eight-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They blew past Cordell 19-3 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Comets considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Randen House and Wyatt Stefler made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, House struck out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs but no hits. Meanwhile, Stefler tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. At the plate, House scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Stefler scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jacob Bonnewell was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Williams, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Carnegie pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hinton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Carnegie has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Carnegie took their win against Hinton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1. Will Carnegie repeat their success, or does Hinton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
