The Jefferson County North Chargers never got on the board in their matchup last Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against the Troy Trojans on Thursday. They came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 60-47. Given Jefferson County North's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Troy is ranked 211th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Troy had strong showings from Christian Etherton, who scored 21 points along with six steals, and Seth Judd, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Gannon Bowe, who scored five points along with four steals.
Jefferson County North now has a winning record of 1-0-2. As for Troy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jefferson County North won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Oskaloosa at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Oskaloosa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Tuesday. Troy will be home for the holidays to greet Blue Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
