After a string of four wins, the Calumet Christian Patriots's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Arthur-Okaw Christian by a score of 23-20. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Calumet Christian in their matchups with Arthur-Okaw Christian: they've now lost eight in a row.
Several Patriots players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Makenna Landkrohn, who scored five points. Landkrohn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.
Leading Arthur-Okaw Christian to victory were Annabelle Haskins and Avery Herschberger. Haskins scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three steals, while Herschberger scored ten points along with four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Haskins has scored at least 25% of Arthur-Okaw Christian's points.
Calumet Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-2.
Calumet Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hebron at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th. As for Arthur-Okaw Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 51.7 points per game.
