The Sterling Rangers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Crosby Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Nederland typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Sterling proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 64-57 win over the Bulldogs. The win was all the more spectacular given Sterling's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 867th, while Nederland is ranked 201st).
Meanwhile, Crosby had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came out on top against Barbers Hill by a score of 59-48.
Crosby's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyler Eaden led the charge by scoring 13 points along with eight rebounds. Dylan Banks was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Sterling's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-22. As for Crosby, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-15.
Sterling ended up a good deal behind Crosby when the teams last played back in January, losing 65-50. Will Sterling have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
