It was a good run, but the Northwood Timberwolves unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 68-60 to Sage Hill. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Northwood came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Sage Hill is ranked 465th).
When it comes to explaining why Northwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Zaid Yunis. Despite the final result, he scored 30 points. That was a full 50% of Northwood's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ryan Abaye was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Northwood's loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 16-6. As for Sage Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-12 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwood will take on Beckman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Sage Hill, they will be playing at home against Woodbridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
