The Stephens County Indians will be playing at home against the Wesleyan Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Stephens County will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
Stephens County had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took down Carver 31-13 on Friday. The win was just what Stephens County needed coming off of a 37-6 defeat in their prior contest.
Javin Gordon was a one-man wrecking crew for Stephens County as he rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns. Gordon was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Stephens County's defense and their six sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Solomon Dupree and Aidan Butts who racked up six sacks between them.
Wesleyan aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game on Friday extended their overall winning streak to five. Everything went their way against Ringgold as Wesleyan made off with a 35-14 win. Considering Wesleyan has won four contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ben Brown was his usual excellent self, throwing for 295 yards and four touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Brown is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamie Tremble, who picked up 144 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Stephens County to 10-1 and Wesleyan to 8-3.
Everything came up roses for Stephens County against Wesleyan in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 51-14 win. Will Stephens County repeat their success, or does Wesleyan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
