Baseball Recap: Sedgwick County Comes Up Short

Sedgwick County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 13-4 to the Maxwell Wildcats. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 7-6 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Sedgwick County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tate Renquist, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Renquist has become a key player for the Cougars: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another was Korven Magana, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Sedgwick County's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Maxwell, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Sedgwick County will welcome Yuma at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Outlaws have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Maxwell, they will head out to face off against Holdrege at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
