Reed and Damonte Ranch are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2017, but not for long. The Reed Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Damonte Ranch Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Reed beat Douglas 77-73. The win made it back-to-back wins for Reed.
It was another big night for Tj Coulter, who went 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 43 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Giosue Gaeta, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Damonte Ranch had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Bishop Manogue out 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Damonte Ranch has posted since December 27, 2023.
Reed is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Damonte Ranch, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Reed came up short against Damonte Ranch when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 70-62. Can Reed avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
