The Clinton Arrows's three-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They put the hurt on Murrah with a sharp 69-45 victory. Given Clinton's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Murrah is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clinton was led to victory by Jatoi Johnson and Taelar Felton. Johnson scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Felton scored 26 points along with three steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Felton has scored at least a third of Clinton's points. Another player making a difference was Eyana Mckinley, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Clinton's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Murrah, they bumped their record down to 4-15 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Parklane Academy at 11:30 a.m. on January 13th. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Zoe Alford and Felton. As for Murrah, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Germantown at 6:00 p.m.
