The Warren Lumberjacks will face off against the Crossett Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Warren is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Warren came into this matchup off a tough six-run defeat on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Woodlawn by a score of 7-5 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Lumberjacks have suffered since April 9, 2024.
Warren saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Breize Fellows, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Crossett waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against the Lions.
Braelyn Campbell was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Gracie Kilcrease was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Zoey Jones was another key player, firing off three triples, three runs, and one RBI while going 4-for-5.
Crossett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Crossett pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Warren, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.
Both Warren and Crossett just can't seem to miss. The Lumberjacks have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Crossett struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Warren took their victory against Crossett in their previous matchup on April 4th by a conclusive 8-2 score. Will the Lumberjacks repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
