Even though the Lakeland Lakers have not done well against the Westview Warriors recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Lakeland walked away with a 58-47 victory over Westview. The win was familiar territory for Lakeland who now have three in a row.
Lakeland found their leader in underclassman Keegan Merrifield, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Justin Carlson, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.
Lakeland's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Westview, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-2.
Lakeland will take on Fort Wayne Northrop in a holiday battle at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday at. Fort Wayne Northrop is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Westview will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on East Noble at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
